Michele Meek (Project Director) 

Michele has built web sites and businesses since the birth of the Internet and has consulted to companies such as Akamai Technologies, One Zero Media (AltaVista’s Entertainment Zone), Lucent Technologies and New England Journal of Medicine. In addition, she has personally overseen the launch of several dozen web sites such as Kestral Communications, HandsFree Networks, Colantonio Inc., among others.

In 1997, she pioneered NewEnglandFilm.com and built it into the leading resource for filmmakers in the region. Then in 1999, she co-founded BuyIndies.com, which has revolutionized independent film and video on the web. Over the years, she worked to build sites for several film-related companies and organizations such as Harvard Film Archive, Filmmakers Collaborative, Center for Independent Documentary, among others. In May 2000, Women in Film & Video New England awarded her the 2000 Image Award for Vision and Excellence for her contributions as a pioneer in the film and Internet industries.

Her entrepreneurial successes have been lauded in leading press outlets such as Inc. Magazine, National Public Radio, and The Boston Globe. Recognized as an industry expert, she has spoken on dozens of panels such as Converge@Tribeca, National Alliance of Media Arts & Culture Conference, and Association of Independent Video & Filmmakers. She has also taught classes on web design at the Boston Center for Adult Education. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College and a Master’s of Fine Arts from Emerson College.
